About the Program
Focused on the development, characterization and application of materials, the PGrCEM aims to train qualified professionals, through advanced teaching and research activities, to work in research and development centers of universities and national and international companies. Since its creation in 1992, it has trained more than 300 masters and 170 doctors.
In the master’s program, it seeks to train professionals with specific knowledge in the areas of ceramic, polymeric, metallic and composite materials, through advanced experimental and theoretical techniques, enabling them to solve current scientific and technological problems. In the doctorate program, in addition to the knowledge provided by the master’s degree, it aims to train highly specialized professionals, capable of solving complex problems at the frontier of knowledge in Materials Science and Engineering.
The program’s teaching and research activities are based at the São Carlos School of Engineering (EESC), with the participation of the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC) and the São Carlos Institute of Chemistry (IQSC). The integration of students and faculty from these units into a single program encourages the sharing of postgraduate and undergraduate laboratories, the carrying out of joint work and the optimization of resources.
